How to "Get in the ACT!"

ACT activities, which are open to youth ages 8-18, provide both an introduction to the performing arts and a platform to improve skills for experienced performers. Opportunities also exist for youth to serve as ushers or in backstage and technical roles. To get started, simply come to an audition. These are usually held for two or three nights, but you only need to come to one. You don't need to prepare anything for the audition. Just be ready to read an excerpt from the script or sing a short solo for a musical. If you are interested in working backstage or tech, come to an audition and sign up.

ACT II provides challenges for High School age youth by performing in plays with more mature subject matter.

ANNOUNCING OUR 2011-2012 SEASON!!

UP NEXT!!!

                               ACT II proudly presents

"Arsenic and Old Lace" by Joseph Kesselring

Directed by Michael Ray Williams

"Arsenic and Old Lace" is a farcical black comedy revolving around Mortimer Brewster, a drama critic who must deal with his crazy, homicidal family and local police in Brooklyn, NY, as he debates whether to go through with his recent promise to marry the woman he loves. His family includes two spinster aunts who have taken to murdering lonely old men by poisoning them with a glass of home-made elderberry wine laced with arsenic, strychnine, and "just a pinch" of cyanide; a brother who believes he is Teddy Roosevelt and digs locks for the Panama Canal in the cellar of the Brewster home (which then serve as graves for the aunts' victims); and a murderous brother who has received plastic surgery performed by an alcoholic accomplice, Dr. Einstein (a character based on real-life gangland surgeon Joseph Moran) to conceal his identity and now looks like horror-film actor Boris Karloff (a self-referential joke, as the part was originally played by Karloff).

ACT II shows are performed by high school aged actors.
