What is Alamance Children's Theatre? The Alamance Children's Theatre Inc. is a private, non-profit community based organization. Everyone just calls us A.C.T.! Our mission is to create quality theatrical opportunities for children and teens in our community both as active participants in performance and production, and as engaged audience members. A.C.T. is a member group of the Alamance County Arts Council, which partially supported us with funds from the GRASSROOTS program of the North Carolina Arts Council, a state agency. All proceeds from A.C.T. productions are used to pay for the resources and materials needed to produce high quality children's theater. Who can be involved in A.C.T.? Youth ages 8 to 18 participate in all phases of theatrical production. They perform as cast members and work as technicians, ushers, and board members. A.C.T. presents three full-scale productions each season and offers theater workshops several times a year. (Click on the link at left to see upcoming workshops.) What about adults? A.C.T. is always looking for experienced directors and music directors to help us produce our shows and to lead our monthly workshops. Also, volunteers are needed throughout the year to serve on various committees, help with the productions and workshops, and support the children Know a child who might be interested in A.C.T.? To get started attend one of our workshops or come to an audition. Check back frequently for updates on dates and times. Children auditioning for roles in our productions will be asked to read an excerpt from the script or to sing a short solo for a musical. Cast lists are posted the day after auditions close.
