Auditions for Alamance Children’s Theatre’s Production of
Disney’s “Aladdin Jr.”

Alamance Children’s Theatre (ACT) will present Disney’s Aladdin Jr. at the Paramount Theater in downtown Burlington.
Regular show dates are March 11-13 and 18-20, 2016. Two Daytime “School Shows” will be at the Paramount on Thursday, March 17, 2016.
Auditions are open to youth ages 8 to 18. A prospective cast member must be a minimum of 8 years old and a maximum of 18 years old on the day that individual auditions for the production.
Auditions will be held:
- Tuesday, December 8, 2015 – 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm (Maximum of 40 Auditionees)
- Wednesday, December 9, 2015 – 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm (Maximum of 40 Auditionees)

Callbacks, if necessary, will be on Saturday, December 12, 2015 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Alamance Lutheran Church.
Potential cast members need to attend only one night of auditions unless called back on December 12th.
Those auditioning should:
- Prepare a verse and chorus of a song from memory, if possible, to be sung along with either sheet music (accompanist provided) or an accompaniment (“karaoke”) track that auditionees should provide;
- Be prepared to read provided passages, showing characterization, range of emotion, variations of line delivery, and accents;
- Wear comfortable clothing and shoes since auditionees will also participate in movement choreography. Shorts, jeans, flip-flop shoes and sandals are definitely discouraged.
Everyone auditioning is encouraged to watch the Disney animated version of Aladdin before coming to the auditions.

In preparation for auditions, please read these materials and bring the completed forms to the audition. You can attach your own picture to the Primary Audition Form. ACT will also be taking individual pictures each night for those who do not provide their own.
Those interested in serving on the Tech Crew for Disney’s Aladdin Jr. should complete the form below and submit it during Auditions on December 8th or 9th.
Regular performances will be at the Paramount at 7:00 pm on March 11, 12, 18 & 19, 2016 and 2:00 pm on March 12, 13, 19 & 20, 2016. The two Daytime “School Shows” will occur on Thursday, March 17, 2016 and are tentatively scheduled for 9:30am and 12:00 noon.
All cast and tech crew members must be present for all regular performances and the “School Shows”. The Alamance-Burlington School System as well as other schools have previously recognized School Show performance days as excused absences for cast and crew members.
Auditionees should be aware that participation in other productions that overlap and create conflicts with rehearsals for Disney’s Aladdin Jr. may be considered in casting decisions.

Aladdin/Prince Ali (male; 16-18yrs. old) – a street orphan who finds a Genie in a lamp and falls in love with Princess Jasmine; poses as Prince Ali to impress Jasmine
Jasmine (female; 16-18yrs. Old) – intelligent and strong-willed princess; heir to the kingdom of Agrabah; she must choose a husband or one will be chosen for her
Genie (a genie; ageless) – mighty and powerful wish-granter released from imprisonment in the lamp, and obligated to grant Aladdin three wishes
Jafar (male; 40s-50s) – evil Grand Vizier of Agrabah, right-hand man of the Sultan
Iago (a parrot; young) – Jafar’s assistant, a wise-cracking parrot
Sultan (male; 40s-50s) – Jasmine’s father and the kindly ruler of Agrabah
