Audition call for Alamance Children’s Theatre Production of
Disney’s Beauty and the Beast

Alamance Children’s Theatre (ACT) will present Disney’s Beauty and the Beast at the Paramount Theater in downtown Burlington.
Regular show dates are October 6-8 and 13-15, 2017. Two daytime “School Shows” will be presented at the Paramount on Tuesday, October 10, 2017. There will be ten (10) performances in total.
Auditions are open to youth ages 8 to 18. A prospective cast member must be a minimum of 8 years old and a maximum of 18 years old on the day that individual auditions for the production.

Tuesday, August 15, 2017 – 7:00 pm

(Enter through the Mebane Street side doors and take the elevator or stairs to the third floor.)

Potential cast members need to attend only one night of auditions, and there will not be any callbacks.
Those auditioning should:
- Prepare a verse and chorus of a song from memory, if possible, to be sung along with either sheet music (accompanist provided) or an accompaniment (“karaoke”) track that auditionee provides.
- Print out and complete the forms provided below prior to arrival at auditions.
- Wear comfortable clothing and shoes since auditionees will also participate in movement choreography. Shorts, jeans, flip-flop shoes and sandals are definitely discouraged.
- Bring character shoes if you have them.
In preparation for auditions, please read these materials and bring the completed forms to the audition. You can attach your own picture to the main form. ACT will also be taking individual pictures each night for those who do not provide their own.
ACT is actively seeking a Props Master for Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. ACT encourages interested individuals to complete the form below and submit it during auditions on August 14th or 15th.
Regular performances will be at the Paramount at 7:00 pm on October 6, 7, 13, & 14, 2017 and 2:00 pm on October 7, 8, 14, & 15, 2017. Two daytime “School Shows” will occur on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 and are scheduled for 9:30 am and 1:30 pm.
All cast and tech crew members must be present for all regular performances and the “School Shows”. The Alamance-Burlington School System as well as other schools have previously recognized School Show performance days as excused absences for cast and crew members.
Auditionees should be aware that participation in other productions that overlap and create conflicts with rehearsals for Disney’s Beauty and the Beast may be considered in casting decisions.

| Belle | A vibrant, intelligent girl with beauty, who wants more out of the life than an ordinary existence. She is optimistic, fun-loving, caring, and eager to experience life. Gender: female |
| Beast | A Prince transformed into a terrifying beast for his lack of compassion. He is hot-tempered and commanding, but has a warm, loving heart buried far beneath his gruff exterior. Gender: male |
| Gaston | The egotistical villain determined to marry Belle. He is manipulative yet charming and earnest. Gender: male |
| Maurice | Belle’s loving, eccentric father. A child at heart and inventor in his own world. Gender: male |
| Cogsworth | A tightly-wound, enchanted mantle clock and the head of the Beast’s household. He is uptight, strict, and punctual but also hard-working, faithful, and thorough. Gender: male |
| Mrs. Potts | A warm-hearted, maternal enchanted teapot. She is loyal, caring, and playful. Gender: female |
| Lumiere | A suave, debonair enchanted candelabra. He is a loyal and steadfast servant. Gender: male |
| Chip | An enchanted teacup and Mrs. Potts’ darling little boy. He is innocent, playful, and bright-eyed. Gender: male |
| Babette | A saucy, enchanted feather-duster, and the object of Lumiere’s affections. She is the playful, gorgeous, seductive French maid. Gender: female |
| Madame de la Grande Bouche | A former opera diva-turned-enchanted wardrobe. She has a caring, refined, larger than life personality. Gender: female |
| Lefou | Gaston’s bumbling sidekick. He is loyal, energetic, and optimistic, but not quite the brightest guy. Gender: male |
| Monsieur D’arque | The scheming proprietor of the local insane asylum. He is a dark, sinister villain who aides Gaston in his plot to marry Belle. Gender: male |
