Alamance Children’s Theatre (ACT) will present Into the Woods, an ACT II production, at the Paramount Theater in downtown Burlington. ACT II is a program providing acting challenges for older or more experienced youth actors.

Regular show dates are January 22-24 and 29-31, 2016. One daytime “School Show” will be presented at the Paramount on Thursday, January 28, 2016.

Auditions are open to youth 9th grade and above, and those 18 or younger on the date of auditions. Youth in the 8th grade may also audition, but will only be considered for casting if 1) they have previously participated in 3 or more ACT productions, and 2) there are no older auditionees who can adequately fill a role.

Auditions will be held:

Monday, November 9, 2015 – 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm (Maximum of 35 Auditionees)
Tuesday, November 10, 2015 – 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm (Maximum of 35 Auditionees)
at Alamance Lutheran Church
4008 Highway 62 South
Alamance, NC

If you have conflicts with the audition dates above, please email Greg Wilder by Saturday, October 31, 2015 at oldwestheel@yahoo.com.

Potential cast members need to attend only one night of auditions, and there will not be any callbacks.

Those auditioning should:

  • Prepare a verse and chorus of a song from memory, if possible, to be sung along with either sheet music (accompanist provided) or an accompaniment (“karaoke”) track that auditionees should provide;
  • Be prepared for reading from the script along with other individuals auditioning;
  • Wear comfortable clothing and shoes since auditionees will also participate in movement choreography. Shorts, jeans, flip-flop shoes and sandals are definitely discouraged.

A character list is provided below.

In preparation for auditions, please read these materials and bring the completed forms to the audition. You can attach your own picture to the Audition Form. ACT will also be taking individual pictures each night for those who do not provide their own.

ACT welcomes all those interested in serving on the Tech Crew for Into the Woods to complete the form below and submit it during auditions on November 9th or 10th.

ACT is actively seeking a Stage Manager for this production and encourages interested individuals to also complete the form below.

Regular performances will be at the Paramount at 7:00 pm on January 22, 23, 29, & 30, 2016 and 2:00 pm on January 23, 24, 30, & 31, 2016. The one daytime “School Show” will occur on Thursday, January 28, 2016 and is tentatively scheduled for 9:30am.

All cast and tech crew members must be present for all regular performances and the “School Show”. The Alamance-Burlington School System as well as other schools have previously recognized School Show performance days as excused absences for cast and crew members.

Auditionees should be aware that participation in other productions that overlap and create conflicts with rehearsals for Into the Woods may be considered in casting decisions.
