Alamance Children’s Theatre (ACT) will present Wizard of Oz at the Mebane Arts Convention Center in Mebane, NC.
Follow the yellow brick road in this delightful stage adaptation of L. Frank Baum’s beloved tale, featuring the iconic musical score from the MGM film. The timeless tale, in which young Dorothy Gale travels from Kansas over the rainbow to the magical Land of Oz, continues to thrill audiences worldwide.
This RSC version is a more faithful adaptation of the film. A more technically complex production, it recreates the dialogue and structure of the MGM classic nearly scene for scene, though it is adapted for live stage performance. The RSC version’s musical material also provides more work for the SATB chorus and small vocal ensembles.
Regular performance dates are March 13-15 and 20-22, 2026.
There will be at least eight regular performances in total. There will also be two school shows for this production on March 18, 2026.
CAST ANNOUNCEMENT:
A huge thank you to the auditionees that came out for Elf Jr. auditions. We had an AMAZING turnout with so many incredible and talented kids that featured close to EIGHTY kids and you all made it INCREDIBLY DIFFICULT for our Director Team to choose for 35 spots!!! So difficult in fact they were there till nearly 2am AND THEN woke up Wednesday morning still doing final decisions!!!! Unfortunately, we could not cast everyone. Remember, there are so many things that go into casting besides talent – age, voice, tone and volume, potential chemistry with the rest of the cast, you name it, and it makes a difference to a director. We encourage you to continue to audition for future shows!
For those who were cast as actors or production members, you must email wizardofozact2026@gmail.com by 9am on Saturday, January 10th to accept or decline your role. When you accept your role, please make sure you provide an email address that would be best for us to provide you AND your parent with the welcome links that will provide you access to the Welcome Letter, necessary forms that require adult and/or performer signatures.
There will be a MANDATORY parent meeting on Sunday, January 11th at 2pm at Alamance Lutheran and ALL cast, and a parent or guardian should be in attendance. Those unable to attend this meeting must send an email to the email address listed above to advise of being unable to attend.
Parental failure to attend this meeting and no notification to the email group could result in re-casting of performer or tech crew member(s)
