Alamance Children’s Theatre (ACT) will present Elf The Musical Jr., at Studio 1 in Burlington, NC. A title known the world over, Elf The Musical JR. is a must-produce holiday musical that can easily become an annual tradition for any theatre. Based on the cherished New Line Cinema hit, Elf JR. features songs by Tony Award-nominees, Matthew Sklar and Chad Beguelin, with a book by Tony Award-winners, Thomas Meehan and Bob Martin.
Buddy, a young orphan, mistakenly crawls into Santa’s bag of gifts and is transported to the North Pole. The would-be elf is raised, unaware that he is actually a human, until his enormous size and poor toy-making abilities cause him to face the truth. With Santa’s permission, Buddy embarks on a journey to New York City to find his birth father and discover his true identity. Faced with the harsh reality that his father is on the naughty list and that his half-brother doesn’t even believe in Santa, Buddy is determined to win over his new family and help New York remember the true meaning of Christmas.
This modern-day holiday classic is sure to make every young performer embrace his or her “inner elf” with plenty of large ensemble numbers featuring elves and (New Yorkers) of every type.
Regular performance dates are December 5-7 and 12-14, 2025. There will be eight regular performances in total. There will be no school shows for this production.
CAST ANNOUNCEMENT:
A huge thank you to the auditionees that came out for Elf Jr. auditions. We had an AMAZING turnout with so many incredible and talented kids that featured close to EIGHTY kids and you all made it INCREDIBLY DIFFICULT for our Director Team to choose for thirty spots!!! Unfortunately, we could not cast everyone. Remember, there are so many things that go into casting besides talent – age, voice, tone and volume, potential chemistry with the rest of the cast, you name it, and it makes a difference to a director. Please continue to audition for future shows!
For those who were cast as actors or production members, you must email Elfjr2025act@gmail.com by 9pm on Thursday, October 16th to accept or decline your role. When you accept your role, please make sure you provide an email address that would be best for us to provide you AND your parent with the welcome links that will provide you access to the Welcome Letter, necessary forms that require adult and/or performer signatures.
There will be a MANDATORY parent meeting on Saturday, October 18th at 2pm at Alamance Lutheran and all cast, and a parent or guardian should be in attendance.
